Tahan allocates quarter million ringgit for R&D

Tahan Insurance signed a memorandum of understanding for a Collaborative Ventures for the sole purpose of Research and Development related to business with the Institute of Graduate Studies, Universiti ITM (UiTM). For this purpose, Tahan Insurance has allocated a sum of a quarter million Ringgit.


 
At the Press Conference, the Chief Executive Officer of Tahan Insurance, Razidan Ghazalli said, “We envisage the R & D budget to be no more than one percent of the total premium income, subject to our Board of Directors’ approval..”

This exercise will seek to provide assis- tance and funding to the post graduate students of UiTM.
Razidan added, Tahan Insurance has been approached by the Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) UiTM to assist the graduate students in insurance-related studies and to provide them industrial training in insurance-related businesses such as insurance, risk Management, actuarial studies, finance and investment and marketing.

Tahan Insurance will be allocating RM250,000 over the next 2 years to facilitate the R & D activities. However, the sum will only be exercised if the R & D is justified, relevant and beneficial to Tahan Insurance.

  Speaking at the Press Conference, the Vice Chancellor UiTM, Dato’ Seri Prof Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah said, “The collaborative ventures with Tahan Insurance will provide a very good platform for our postgraduate students register for the new academic year next month.” Dr Ibrahim added the MoU with Tahan Insurance will benefit UiTM’s new Skim Biasiswazah initiated by Institute of Graduate Studies.

The allocation of RM250,000 will help produce a significant number of young and talented researchers and specialists in insurance R&D and insurance related businesses relevant to the development of insurance industries and nation building.
